The 2,080-hour rule
A full-time year is 40 hours × 52 weeks = 2,080 hours, so dividing a salary by 2,080 (or roughly halving it and dropping the thousands: $60,000 ≈ $30/hour) gives the hourly equivalent. That rule assumes paid holidays and vacation. Salaried roles often run longer than 40 hours, and the extra hours quietly lower your true rate: $80,000 at 50 hours a week is $30.77 an hour, not $38.46. Change the hours box to see yours.

How do I convert a salary to an hourly rate?
Divide the annual salary by the hours you work in a year. At 40 hours a week for 52 weeks that is 2,080 hours, so a quick rule is: salary ÷ 2,080. $60,000 ÷ 2,080 = $28.85 an hour.
$50,000 a year is how much an hour?
At 2,080 hours a year, $50,000 is $24.04 an hour. If you actually work 45 hours a week, it drops to $21.37.
Should I count vacation weeks?
If vacation and holidays are paid, keep 52 weeks: you are paid for them. If you want your rate per hour actually worked, set paid weeks to 52 and reduce hours, or lower the weeks to the number you really work.
